Before playing, the player has the option to customize his avatar, to choose the location and the type of Poker. The game features 5 types of poker: Billabong, Shanghai, Tahoe, super hold'em and Texas hold'em. There was a recent patch for this game that allows it to be played remotely on the PSP system. This is the first game to fully support this feature both online and offline.

High Stakes on the Vegas Strip: Poker Edition is one of the few Playstation 3 games that can be played on a Playstation Portable via the Remote Play feature.
